Carpet Installation Preparation and What to Expect

Please complete the following tasks prior to installers’ arrival at the carpet installation site. There is an additional charge for any of the following not completed prior to installers arrival.
- Remove all small items from the carpet installation area.
- Disconnect and move all electronic and breakable items out of the carpet installation area.
- Clean all closet floors of shoes, clothing, and other items.
- Remove sheets, comforters, etc. from bedding.
- Move any larger items not specifically listed on your estimate completely out of the work area. If you are paying for furniture removal, be aware this includes moderate furnishings only (i.e. couches, chairs, end tables, etc.). Very large items such as, pool tables, appliances, are moved at an additional charge. All furniture items such as hutches, bookcases, etc. must be emptied before moving.
- Drain and remove any waterbeds and aquariums.
- Remove all pets from carpet installation area.
- Remove prior to installation any water lines or gas lines that may be attached to appliances or fireplaces that interfere with installation.
- Installation site must be free of obstacles, interference or interruption during the installation process.
- Make sure adequate power, light, ventilation, and heat is on 24 hours prior to and during installation.
- Clean Up – Installers will discard large scraps and trash. We only vacuum areas where furniture is to be replaced. It is your responsibility to vacuum balance of areas.
- Normal installation methods will scuff your existing baseboards, walls, and wallpaper. This is in most cases minimal and we exercise extreme care to avoid scuffing. It is your responsibility to touch up, repair or paint.
- It is your responsibility to trim doors where needed when thicker carpets are installed.
- Shoe molding that must be removed and replaced may be brittle and sometimes break. This is rare, but should this happen it will be the customers responsibility to replace.
******Attention customers supplying material for installation. Place flooring material in the climate controlled room 24 hours prior to installation. Defective material, shortages and anything that results in additional handling, time or multiple service calls will be charged additional labor charges and is due at that time.
Please be present at the carpet installation site before, during and at time of completion to go over with the installer any concerns you may have. This will allow him to address your concerns while he is still onsite. This must be done at the original installation time so please be certain to go over the installation carefully. Installers can not return without charging for an additional trip.
Balance is due at time of completion unless prior arrangements have been made with our office.
